Two weeks after little Olivia Pratt-Korbel, whose death shocked the world, was buried in a moving ceremony in Liverpool, her killer has finally been caught.
A 34-year-old sniper who shot and killed the nine-year-old elementary school girl in the stairwell of her home in late August while pursuing another mobster was arrested Thursday by Merseyside police and charged by prosecutors over the weekend.
The killer was the tenth suspect in the heinous crime.
Accidentally in the firing line
The incident at the end of August had caused horror not only in Britain. Little Olivia was an accidental victim of the gunman when her mother opened the door to investigate the cause of the noise in the street.
A 35-year-old man then broke into the house to save himself from an armed pursuer wearing a balaclava. He fired several shots through the half-open door into the hallway, fatally hitting the girl. She had come down the stairs from her bedroom to see what was happening below.

Olivia was taken to hospital but died of her gunshot wound. Her 46-year-old mother injured her wrist.
The victim also suffered serious injuries and was taken to hospital. Police arrested him for violating the terms of his probation.

Olivia’s funeral service took place in mid-September. Funeral home staff wore dark suits with pink ties and pink butterfly brooches. Her white coffin was also decorated with butterflies that she loved so much. Like the color pink.
