Siemens Gamesa informed the unions this Tuesday that the adjustment of 475 jobs in Spain, 80 correspond to any vacancies that will not be renewed, 43 are positions that will be written off naturally and the rest (352) have been laid off in offices, as confirmed by CCOO sources. The multinational has offices in Zamudio (Bizkaia) and Sarriguren (Navarra).

CCOO sources have indicated that they have not been given a breakdown by area at the meeting as it has not yet been defined, but they have indicated that of those 475 positions, 80 will be temporary and will not be renewed, 43 rotational positions are, of course, that they are “in disappear over time” and 352 have been laid off in offices. It is not yet known whether the 80 temporary and the other 43 positions will also be in the office.

The company had today electronically convened union branches of the CCOO, UGT and ELA across the state after announcing it would cut a total of 2,900 jobs worldwide, and 475 of them in Spain, under its strategic program ‘Mistral’.

They have also been informed that Gamesa Electric and Gamesa Energy Transmission’s business units will not be affected, either in offices or factories.

In particular, Gamesa Electric has facilities in Reinosa, San Fernando de Henares and Valencia and Gamesa Energy Transmission (GET), the gearbox, is located in Mungia and asteasu in Euskadi, Lerma (Burgos), Sigueiro (Galicia) and Burgos.

This adjustment plan, as already announced, will be developed in two years and for this October, the company plans to convene the employment table to reach an agreement, which must happen for the unions “because there is no traumatic layoff.

At the meeting, the three unions agreed to show their “absolute” rejection of this adjustment, believing that in Spain “no one is left” and the current situation is a result of “mismanagement” by the company.

For its part, the company has indicated that it will try to find non-traumatic exits through relocations, incentivized layoffs and early retirement with the intention of “minimizing unwanted exits”.
