The search for a missing woman (53) from Gattendorf (Burgenland) continued on Sunday with a large number of emergency services. On foot, in a Zille or with the help of a drone from the air – kilometer after kilometer many helpers roamed the vast nature reserve along the river Leitha: “We are not giving up.”
As reported, the search for the missing person was already in full swing on Saturday. She left the house the night before and drove off. Her car was found near the Leitha, where she often goes jogging. But there was no trace of the missing Martina R..
150 helpers in action
“The background is unclear, there are no indications for the time being,” said the director. The search lasted until late Saturday night. 150 firefighters, the police with helicopters and drones and sniffer dogs were deployed.
No new clues
With the same large contingent, the helpers continued their work shortly before 7 a.m. on Sunday, including the fire brigades of Gattendorf, Purbach, Rust, Jois, Kittsee, Podersdorf and Mönchhof. During the day there was no new information about the whereabouts of the missing. “We are still searching with full dedication,” Gattendorf mayor Thomas Ranits said around 6 p.m. on Sunday evening.
Search continues now
As announced, the volunteers do not give up. Early this morning, they continued the large-scale search. “We hope everything goes well,” the emergency services said.
