During the mating season – Love drunk wild boars: warn hunters

Date:

“Rauschzeit” is currently located in the Lainzer Tiergarten in Vienna, as well as in all other natural forests in Austria. This, of course, has nothing to do with being drunk in the woods. Because hunters and zoologists use it to describe the mating of wild boars that is now beginning.

But that makes the little ones, the gentlemen of the “sow creation”, particularly aggressive. Hikers are therefore urged to be particularly careful. Because an encounter, which is quite rare, can be quite dangerous.

“Noise in the Bushes”
“A growl, a snort and a loud crack of branches – all this should literally sting joggers, mushroom pickers, walkers and walkers – especially when the light outside is fading slowly – because then there is a ‘rushing’ in them. the bushes, as we say hunters”, warns the Viennese hunter legend Friedrich Hardegg.

Can weigh more than 100 kilos
All other gamekeepers in the country are also joining this call. Because such a love-hungry boar, standing in the undergrowth with a majestic shoulder height of 120 centimeters and often weighing more than 100 kilograms, is not only drunk with love, but also aggressive and aggressive. The massive and caustic streams are not to be underestimated.

Razor sharp tusks
What makes charging hogs particularly dangerous is their literally razor-sharp tusks, which aim at the inner thigh and can rupture a human’s artery there. In extreme cases, there is a risk of bleeding to death in fields and fields. Still, the rangers don’t want to spoil anyone’s enjoyment of autumn walks.

That’s why the brave green skirts have some saving tips ready. The most important eco-rule of thumb for avoiding contact with the predators: Do not enter the forest at dawn and dusk. Because that is where especially the “mating-loving” wild boars are active. This also applies in general, so as not to alarm the game.

Further rules of conduct:
Do not leave walking and hiking trails and do not join dogs, as they too can become victims all too easily. If contact is made despite all caution, it is important to remain calm and not get too hectic. Never try to stop a crazy sow with a knife or stick.

This fight would surely end with the four-legged friend to the detriment of the two-legged friend. A peaceful retreat is therefore the order of the day. If it’s too late for that: Climb the tree or jump away just before the encounter. It remains intoxicatingly threatening until January, when the lust is satisfied again.
