The city of Vienna must save energy. And that also applies to those who want to go to the indoor pools in winter. In any case, the spa feeling is over!
If 27 degrees is too cold for you, you won’t be happy with the indoor pools this year. From October to April, some of them offered so-called hot bath days – during this time, the water in the direction of the thermal baths was raised to 31 degrees at an additional cost of 3.40 euros per entry. But that is now over, deputy mayor and responsible alderman Christoph Wiederkehr announced on Sunday.
“Currently unacceptable”
Means: Up to 27 degrees is heated, then it’s over. Return: “We act responsibly and forward-looking. That is why we have decided to reduce energy consumption.” MA-44 department head Hubert Teubenbacher: “Heating the pool temperature from 27 to 31 degrees is currently unacceptable.”
The city also says: “Vienna thus utilizes additional savings potential. In addition, it is pointed out that the baths began to modernize their technical systems more than two decades ago. These include in particular the installation of new swimming pool water treatment systems, heating and ventilation systems, heat recovery systems and the use of solar thermal energy and, more recently, photovoltaics, which have resulted in significant savings in energy, electricity and water consumption , which corresponds to the average energy consumption of 4000 households. Water consumption has been reduced by up to two-thirds.
