At least eight people were injured at a Halloween party in a Czech disco on Sunday evening, five of them seriously. According to a spokesman for the rescue workers, two young people were still in life-threatening condition on Sunday morning. All injured were between 15 and 20 years old.
According to eyewitnesses, there was a crowd on a staircase leading to the nightclub in Slusovice in East Moravia. Some eyewitnesses also reported bumping into each other.
Imprisoned young people became unconscious
Police said the stairs were full of young people trying to get in. The pressure from the rear prevented the front ones from retreating, causing panic. The imprisoned youths became unconscious.
Panic also led to the tragedy in the South Korean capital Seoul this weekend. More than 150 people were killed there and many more injured. About 100,000, mostly young people, had gathered in the narrow streets of the Itaewon entertainment district before the accident ran its course.
