Tight jury trial in Innsbruck: A 33-year-old and her husband told police about a “robbery”. The woman suffered serious injuries to her forehead and shoulder. But he had struck, the investigation soon revealed.
On January 28, about 7 a.m., the police received a call from the Serbian defendant (35): his wife had been attacked, her head was “open and broken”. In fact, helpers found the 33-year-old with serious injuries, apparently caused by massive blows.
The Story of the “Four Unknowns”
The couple reported that four unknown men attacked the woman on her way home from work and stole 400 euros.
The investigators also relied on surveillance video available from the alleged crime scene. But there was no trace of the suspicious men in the photos. Instead, police found traces of blood in the family’s home. And then also on the hammer with which his own man would have struck.
Victim: No incriminating statement, but divorce
He shed many tears for the jury in Innsbruck, but did not admit the dramatic attack. The woman decided not to testify at the trial and apparently did not want to be a burden to him. However, she has since filed for divorce. The non-final verdict is attempted murder – 17 years in prison!
