Gerald Deckan has been safely transporting Carinthia’s state politicians from A to B for almost 40 years. He has covered more than three million kilometers in total and has experienced a lot about which he says he could write a book.
“It was always my dream to become a driver. I trained as a car salesman at Mercedes in Villach and was already passionate about delivering vehicles,” says Gerald Deckan, who has been working as a driver in the Carinthia state government since January 3, 1983, and several politicians of the Social Democratic Party during their legislature. “But that was not on purpose. I started with the SPÖ at the time and was simply taken over by the successor again and again,” says the Gailtal resident.
