The fire at the Alpenrind company at the beginning of September caused damage of ten million euros. The public prosecutor has reported: it was not the only arson of the suspect (27).
The Salzburg public prosecutor’s office has filed charges against a local security officer (27), official spokesman Marcus Neher confirms. Charges: arson and property damage.
The 27-year-old is said to have set fire to boxes at the Salzburg slaughterhouse on September 4, sparking a devastating blaze. According to Neher, the fire caused damage of around ten million euros.
Defendant denies the allegations
Not only that: according to the indictment, which is not final, the 27-year-old would have started several fires weeks earlier. In detail, it concerns the lighting of an ÖBB container, boxes of a fashion company and also waste at a collection point in Salzburg.
He himself denies the allegations. A possible motive is provided by an expert opinion: According to this, the mentally disabled 27-year-old is a pyromaniac – ie a person who sets fires purely out of fascination. That is why, in addition to a sentence, the government also applied for admission to an institution for psychologically deviant and responsible criminals.
