Sanofi’s protein vaccine against the coronavirus can soon also be administered in Austria. On Tuesday, 168,000 doses arrived, which will be delivered to state vaccination centers in the coming days, according to the Health Ministry.
The vaccine is used from the third vaccination. The National Immunization Commission (NIG) has issued a recommendation for the vaccine called VidPrevtyn Beta in line with the approval for people 18 years and older.
At the moment, 47,312 people have an infection. The seven-day incidence in Austria currently stands at 371.5 infections per 100,000 inhabitants, compared to 369.4 the day before. On Monday, 5113 new infections were registered, which is more than the average of the 4791 infections reported daily according to AGES in the past week.
On Tuesday morning there were 1086 patients in the hospital, which is 22 minutes compared to the day before. Of these, 63 are in intensive care, one more than yesterday.
Seven deaths were reported the previous day. However, there are always delays in the reports. In the past week, 30 people died after a corona infection. The pandemic has so far claimed 21,272 lives in Austria.
