The acoustic fire alarm in the apartment of the 26-year-old mother in Vorarlberg sounded the alarm in time. Moments later, the woman from Bludenzer noticed smoke and fire in the living room. There the Advent wreath had caught fire.
After the young woman was awakened from her sleep at around 12:30 a.m. and discovered the fire, she first ran into the stairwell to get a fire extinguisher. However, their attempts to remove it failed. She then grabbed her two-year-old son and ran outside.
No injuries
There were already a few neighbors in front of the apartment building who had run out because of the alarm. They called the emergency services. Firefighters had the fire under control shortly afterwards. No one was injured and mother and son were taken to Feldkirch State Hospital as a precaution. Damage to the apartment was limited.
