A man walked into the Lange Allee police station in Vienna-Donaustadt on Friday to hand over found parts of a hand grenade. An officer familiar with explosives was called in and the find was temporarily kept in the closed inspection lock. It turned out to be a practice grenade.
The authority warned against attacking such finds and recommends the following prevention tips:
- If you find objects or war materials suspected of being explosives, record or mark the location and move to a safe distance.
- Call 133 or 112 immediately.
- Leave found items untouched.
- Objects suspected of explosives and war material may not be manipulated, washed or moved.
