A serious accident happened on Sunday afternoon in the Hochzeiger ski area near Jerzens in the Tyrolean Pitztal. A 43-year-old man was seriously injured. The man was driving a snowmobile when the brakes suddenly locked.
Around 3 p.m., the 43-year-old resident drove his vehicle down a steep slope. In doing so, he came across a piste marker lying on the piste, which then blocked the snowmobile’s rear brake.
Sled got faster and faster
The 43-year-old lost control of the vehicle and went faster and faster. When he tried to steer the snowmobile to the edge of the runway, it overturned and rolled over. The driver was thrown from the sled and injured. After first aid, he was taken away with a rescue helicopter. There was serious damage to the snowmobile.
