After the gruesome crime against a 61-year-old woman in front of Edlinger’s mortuary, the DNA results are waiting.
After the horrific discovery of a dead, brutally beaten 61-year-old in front of the Edlinger mortuary in early February (we reported), the Carinthian researchers have high hopes for the evaluation of the DNA traces on the clothes of the Völkermarkt woman and on the place where the body was found, where also the crime scene was, is secured. “To date, however, we have not yet had any results,” says Tina Frimmel-Hesse, spokeswoman for the Klagenfurt public prosecutor’s office.
But why does it take so long to evaluate the traces? “It always depends on multiple factors in the analysis. For example, the quality of the secured traces plays an important role,’ explains the public prosecutor in the ‘Krone’ interview. In addition, it is not uncommon for DNA evaluations to take longer. “The investigations and the preparation of the accompanying report can take up to three months. It always depends on what the detectives ask for an evaluation.”
But even if the results of the DNA analysis are available, it is not certain that this lead will lead to the 61-year-old’s killer. Nevertheless, the investigating officers are combative, because this crime must by no means become a “cold case”, but must be clarified quickly.
