Murder case – Suspect wanted to sell BMW in Hungary

Date:

New details in the sensational robbery and murder case in Salzburg involving an Iraqi missing since early January. The Hungarian (25), who was arrested weeks ago, drove to his house and back in the victim’s car, Krone reports. And tried to sell the allegedly stolen car there.

Mohanad A. (31) is still missing. The last sign of life of the Iraqi living in Salzburg was a phone call he made shortly before 2 p.m. on January 2: a phone call with his girlfriend about shopping. According to research by “Krone”, he then met potential buyers for his BMW X6 in the Salzburg station district, which he had advertised on Facebook for 17,000 euros a few days earlier. Detectives suspect that Mohanad A. was murdered by two Hungarian half-brothers (19, 25) during the car sale. Both are in custody on suspicion of aggravated robbery resulting in death.

Both suspects have previous convictions
Both vehemently deny the allegations – as reported, not without contradictions. But the evidence speaks for itself: Investigators found traces of the victim’s blood on a towel in the Hungarians’ apartment, where they had both personally checked out three days after the Iraqi’s disappearance. Criminals also found blood of the victim and the suspect in the BMW: on the back seat and in the trunk.

The protected vehicle is the pivot of the criminal case. As the “crown” learned, the suspects were on the road for days after Mohanad’s disappearance. They drove several times to and from their hometown in southern Hungary. On January 11, the suspect – eleven days before his arrest – wanted to resell the BMW: he offered it on Facebook for 7 million forints (18,600 euros). Days later, he re-registered the car – including a Hungarian plate.

Multiple criminal records
Also: the older Hungarian with a weak condition clearly had money problems. In addition to public fines from the police, he apparently hasn’t paid his rent for quite some time. The past life of the suspects also reveals a lot: although both are impeccable in this country, the 25-year-old is wanted in Germany for fraud. And in Hungary, both have multiple previous convictions: the younger half-brother even for armed robbery. Hungarian authorities are also actively investigating both for violent crimes. In the meantime, the victim’s relatives continue to hope for clarity, emphasizes lawyer Stefan Rieder of Weißer Ring.
