Injured in hospital – Autolenker (65) collided head-on with a truck on the Fernpass

Serious road accident late Friday afternoon in Musau in the Ausserfern region of Tyrol: When a German (65) collided with the truck of a 27-year-old Ukrainian with his car, both drivers were injured. Another driver was lucky in the accident: he narrowly escaped injury from flying debris.

The accident happened on Friday around 5:30 p.m. on Fernpassstraße in the Tyrolean district of Reutte. A 65-year-old German was driving his car from Reutte in the direction of Vils when, for reasons that have not yet been clarified, he ended up in the opposite lane and collided head-on with an oncoming truck.

The driver of the truck, a 27-year-old Ukrainian, was able to free himself from his completely destroyed cabin. The German, on the other hand, was trapped in his car and had to be freed by the fire brigade with rescue scissors. The helicopter then flew him to the hospital in Murnau, Bavaria. The ambulance took the truck driver, who was also injured, to the Reutte district hospital.

Road closed for two and a half hours
Another motorist (51) was unlucky: the German had driven behind the Ukrainian’s truck. In the collision, debris flew around and also hit his car, but did not hit the steering wheel.

The car of the person who caused the accident and the truck were completely destroyed. After the accident, Fernpassstraße was closed to all traffic for about 2.5 hours and a diversion was put in place.
