Winter celebrates a comeback at the beginning of the week, snow showers and gusts of wind determine the weather in the north and east, and in the middle of the week it can even freeze with values in the double-digit minus. However, there is also good news.
The weekend will be mixed, the sun will rarely be seen, especially in western Austria, and occasional thunderstorms are to be expected, according to the forecast of the storm center. Better conditions prevail in the east and south, it is sunnier here. Double-digit plus degrees can still be expected in these regions, but the 20-degree mark will no longer be reached.
The fall of the weather follows punctually at the beginning of the new week. On Monday night, a cold front moves into Austria – bringing snow to the valleys in the northern Alps. “On Monday there are also some snow and sleet showers planned in the north and east with very windy conditions and only five to eight degrees,” said chief meteorologist Manfred Spatzierer.

Tuesday is also similar. Up to half a meter of fresh snow should be expected on the mountains – “quite considerable snow masses for the end of March,” according to the storm center.

But not only snow determines the start of the week, but also the storm, nationwide. “In the east of the country, on the eastern edge of the Alps and with a northerly wind also in the southern Alps, locally strong wind gusts of up to 90 or 100 km/h are possible,” the warning said.
In the middle of the week, winter rears its head again in terms of cold, also throughout Austria. Temperatures in the double-digit minus range can also be reached in some valleys. Finally, there is the promised good news. Because in the coming week winter will only be a temporary guest – according to the weather forecast, spring should fight back in the second half of the week, with temperatures around 20 degrees.
