A driving under the influence of alcohol ended badly for a 26-year-old motorcyclist on Saturday. He ended up with serious injuries in the accident hospital in Klagenfurt.

The man from Klagenfurt was riding his motorcycle on Miegerer Landesstraße (L100) towards Ebenthal when the accident happened. “Due to a driving error, he left the right lane in Zell in the municipality of Ebenthal,” the police said. First he crashed into a fence before crossing the roadway and crashing into a street lamp.

Helicopter flown to hospital
“The driver suffered serious injuries and was flown by the C11 rescue helicopter to the UKH Klagenfurt after first aid from an emergency doctor,” it said. A breathalyzer test was positive. Significant damage was done to the motorcycle, as well as to the chain link and base of the corner gate.
