An alleged raccoon briefly caused chaos on the road in Hietzing on Wednesday. A passerby discovered the black and white animal under a car and immediately alerted the Am Platz police station. It soon turned out that the alleged raccoon was a badger, which suddenly fled to Hietzinger Hauptstrasse.
The badger ran away from the officers called to the scene and fled into the street. Two police officers then had to stop traffic on Hietzinger Hauptstrasse to prevent an accident involving wildlife in the inner city. Officials of the police inspection of Am Platz have reported this.
Small animals could be released back into the wild
The animal fled to a nearby post office, where it was eventually “put down” by police and guarded until the Viennese wildlife rescue team arrived. After veterinary treatment at MA 49 (Wildtierservice) premises, the brutal man was released back into the wild.
