Russian energy company Gazprom has resumed gas deliveries to China after a week of maintenance work. In addition, the company announced that it would build another pipeline called “Power of Siberia 2”.
Russian gas flows back to China. “The planned preventive work on the Kraft Siberian gas pipeline has been completed,” Gazprom announced on its Telegram channel on Wednesday. The Kremlin is trying to expand its energy exports to China in general. Last year, 15.4 billion cubic meters of gas were supplied through the “Power of Siberia”, this year 22 billion are already planned. In addition, the construction of another pipeline, “Power of Siberia 2”, is planned.
Nord Stream 1 still not in operation
Last September, after maintenance works, Gazprom did not put the Nord Stream 1 line to Germany back into service. The group justified this by allegedly leaking oil from a turbine. However, many suspect that the political tensions between Russia and the West are the reason. Since then, Gazprom has only exported gas to the west via one pipeline, and that, of all things, runs via the Ukraine.
