A 78-year-old woman allegedly robbed a bank in the small American town of Pleasant Hill. She behaved relatively politely. She allegedly handed the cashier a note that read, “Thanks and sorry, I didn’t mean to scare you”.
The newspaper “The Kansas City Star” reported this last weekend. She was wearing plastic gloves, an N95 respirator and black sunglasses. She then asked for 13,000 small bills on a note and apologized for scaring the employees. She also received the money, but was arrested shortly afterwards in a parking lot. According to police, she smelled strongly of alcohol and was driving an SUV with a disabled ID on it.
After the arrest, police chief Tommy Wright said he had never arrested a bank robbery suspect of that age in his 30 years on the job. “When the officers (the car) approached, they were a bit confused at first: an old woman got out. We weren’t sure at first if we had the right person.”
Son: Mom is going crazy
As it turned out, according to court records, the suspect had been convicted of bank robbery at least twice. The first time was in California in 1977, the second time in January 2020. I then called her son to the police and said that his mother had gone completely crazy and wanted to rob a bank. She extorted $3,000 from Lee’s Summit, Missouri, and was caught soon after. She received a suspended sentence that expires in November 2021.
