LAB has two general coordinators, Garbiñe Aranburu and Igor Arroyo

The LAB union has announced that instead of a general secretary, it will have two general coordinators for the next term: Garbiñe Aranburu and Igor Arroyo. This was announced on Tuesday at a press conference at the union headquarters in Bilbao.

Garbiñe Aranburu has assured that “they will innovate in the union model to promote a participatory culture” and that they are committed “to a more horizontal directioncollegial, participative, and following the steps we are taking within the union, both outwardly and toward feminist transformation, we are going to propose at Congress that, instead of a person as general secretary, two people as general coordinators

“We are talking about two people with the same level of responsibility and at least one of them will always be a woman,” he announced.

LAB keeps being X Congress on June 16 and 17 in Biarritz and Baiona with the aim of renewing the “agreements for the development of independent trade union work for all workers in Euskal Herria”.

LAB will continue to bet to become “the main union reference of the left for independence”. According to the general secretary, “The union-majority alliance attempt has failed and LAB takes on the responsibility of being the national union reference for left-wing independence. As a national union, we have defined a national strategy that responds to the realities of each area”.
