The Agency for Health and Nutrition (AGES) warns against consumption of available caviar with an expiration date of December 31, 2023. Consumption can sometimes lead to death in certain people, AGES warned on Wednesday.

“In pregnant women there is also a risk of infection of the unborn child with the risk of premature birth or stillbirth,” the ministry said. According to AGES, the warning concerns batch number 113023.

“Since it cannot be ruled out that corresponding products are still in stock in Austrian households, we are urgently warned against consumption,” it said. Affected products that have already been purchased can now be returned without a receipt.
