She doesn’t peck, she plants! Entrepreneur Elvira Bachinger single-handedly ripped up gray paving stones in St. Pöltner City. A special kind of climate protest.
The capital has so far been spared from the climate stickers that are especially hated by motorists. Which does not mean that St. Pölten is considered a showcase city for urban greenery. The Schreinergasse in the middle of the city has recently been repaved – much to the dismay of the residents, a number of ancient trees had to make way for the construction work. Who now calls for their own climate protests.
Only recently did Elvira Bachinger – “armed” with a shovelful of flour – herself remove the fresh cement joints from the pavement of the street to “put a sign against the sealing madness stone by stone”, according to the Gut-Ding boss. Instead, she planted Virginia creeper and star jasmine near the pillars in front of her shop.

“Both shallow roots,” she emphasizes. Sometimes you just have to take action yourself. But the next day their work was ruined and the plants were ripped out. So she started again.
„Greening offensive“ with aftermath
Now the enraged gardener is being threatened with a lawsuit for property damage. In response to a request from the “Krone” of the town hall, it says: “The basis for coexistence is a fundamental legal system that must be observed.” Bachinger wants to continue her “greening offensive” and hopes for followers.
