After the mysterious discovery of a car in the inn near Kirchbichl (Tyrol), the police have now confirmed that a man’s body was inside. The vehicle has been recovered. The body could possibly be a Tyrolean who has been missing since 2021.
The recovery of a vehicle drifting into the inn in Kirchbichl on Tuesday evening developed into a not without danger. Shortly before 7 p.m., Tyrol’s control room received the emergency call. “After the arrival of the emergency services, neither they nor the crews of the emergency doctor helicopter and the police helicopter ‘Libelle’ could see a car in the Inn,” the police said.
The vehicle was reported by Michael Freisinger and his colleague Manfred Kogler, who wanted to take a closer look at the water level in the Inn due to the heavy rainfall when they suddenly saw a car floating in the water. “All four wheels looked up,” said the “Krone” eyewitnesses. The two immediately raised the alarm.
They eventually alerted emergency services to a striking wave at the spot where the car was last seen. This allowed the vehicle to be located a little later. Due to the high water level and the strong current, it was not possible to salvage the car quickly. Around 8:30 p.m., the emergency services were finally able to pull the vehicle ashore.
After salvage came certainty
They made a sad discovery. The body of a man was inside the vehicle. “The investigation into the identity of the dead man and the incident itself is still ongoing,” said the police.
The Kirchbichl, Angath, Oberlangkampfen, Kufstein and Wörgl volunteer fire brigades, the Innsbruck professional fire brigade, the crews of the emergency medical helicopter and the “Libelle” as well as three police patrols were deployed.
evidence of missing persons
Nothing is known about the identity of the man. However, assumptions lead to the conclusion that it may be a Tyrolean who has been missing since October 23, 2021. The then 79-year-old disappeared without a trace in his blue Audi after attending an event in Kirchbichl. Since then, the police have been puzzled by the man’s disappearance.
