ELA has confirmed its majority among the Basque working class at the end of the concentrated period of union elections, as official data from the end of April 2023 indicate 40.79% of the total representation in the BAC (same as end of 2022), and 23.24% in Navarre (0.15% more).
In this way, the total number of ELA representatives in the companies reaches 8,920 delegates, 103 more than at the end of last year, the union that added the most representatives in these four months. These results were presented today at a press conference in San Sebastián by Amaia Munoadeputy general secretary, and Joseba Villarealresponsible for the elections of the Union.
ELA has grown in Bizkaia, Gipuzkoa and Navarra, while in Álava it retains its vast majority. In addition, throughout Hego Euskal Herria, ELA has consolidated its advantage in the three federations (37.26% representation in Industry and Construction; 33.88% in Services and 36.90% in Gizalan-Public Services).
Amaia Muñoa stressed that “the majority of the working class continues to support ELA’s commitment improve living and working conditions: putting the trade union at the service of the people to organize and struggle in sectors and in the workplace”. “This work is reflected in agreements signed in recent months” added.
