A dangerous incident at an industrial plant in Rankweil (Vorarlberg) called the fire brigade to the scene on Sunday. Aggressive hydraulic oil escaped into the basement of the company and caused heavy smoke development.
The alarm went off around 9 p.m. on Sunday. At a company in Rankweil, there is a lot of smoke in the basement. It turned out that an oil hose had ruptured and the aggressive hydraulic fluid was leaking through a ball valve – a type of fitting that uses a pierced ball as a shut-off body.
The hazardous oil etched the metal of the ball valve, causing smoke. With an overpressure fan, the Florianis managed to free the cellar from the smoke. They then bound the oil with a binder and removed it with shovels. As the police said when asked, no toxic oil has entered the ground.
