Due to flames in the basement of the Eggenberg indoor swimming pool Auster in Graz, the entire site had to be evacuated on Wednesday evening. Fortunately, the fire was quickly under control, but the cause is still unclear.
Fire report on Wednesday at 7.30 pm at the Graz professional fire brigade in the Eggenberg district: a fire had broken out in the Grazer Auster, an indoor swimming pool of Holding Graz!
120 guests had to leave Bath
On site it turned out that the technical room on the second floor was on fire. Because a chemical reaction was feared, it was decided to evacuate the area and to bring a total of 120 swimmers to safety.
The source of the fire was probably the electrical box
Fortunately, the professional fire brigade of Graz gave everything safely a little later. Thanks to rapid intervention and fire-resistant doors, the fire was limited to the technical room. The flue gases, which could be extracted in a controlled manner, then posed a challenge.
No one was injured. The cause of the fire is still unclear, the source of the fire was probably a control box for the gastro-chillers, says Holding Graz spokesman Gerald Zaczek-Pichler. The oyster is open again on today’s holiday, no major damage may have occurred.
