‘Krone’ reader-reporter Adrijana C. experienced a moment of shock on Friday morning. She was on her way to pick up her daughter from the secondary school on Krottenbachstrasse in Vienna’s 19th district of Döbling. Suddenly she heard a loud bang.
Adrijana C. was in Krottenbachstrasse when she witnessed the accident. She reports: “At the next intersection there was a loud bang, at 11:54 a.m. a truck with a trailer and an outstretched lifting arm passed the intersection directly in front of us – and the tram’s catenary broke.”
Truck driver acted “negligently”
An overhead wire had ended up on the zebra crossing. “The truck driver tried to reverse. His further negligence forced me to leave the danger zone. I was afraid that he would break more lines when reversing,” says Adrijana. “I hope no further dangers have arisen. I called the police and the traffic radio,” she says.
