Everything at the beginning! In a month from today, the 32-year-old woman who allegedly slashed her sleeping husband’s neck with a carpet knife on August 2 last year will be back in the dock at the Ried Regional Court. Before that, she would have drugged him with sleeping pills in the goulash. Attempted murder – as with the first attempt – is the charge.
As is known, the first trial at the Ried court ended with a bang in early May. The jury acquitted the Czech woman of attempted murder by a vote of six to two and convicted her of aggravated assault by a vote of seven to one. But the verdict never came. The three professional judges concluded that the jury had erred and stayed the verdict. So the whole process has to be repeated.
