In the Swiss municipality of Muolen (canton of St. Gallen), not far from the Austrian border, a spectacular accident happened on Monday. During a turning maneuver, a tractor driven by a 15-year-old girl and a car collided so hard that the tractor tore in half.
Around 5 p.m., the 15-year-old tractor driver was on his way from Rotzenwil to Muolen on Monday. Two cars followed the girl, with the rear car beginning to overtake. Just then the tractor driver wanted to turn left. The result: a violent sideways collision between the car of a 56-year-old man and the girl’s tractor.
Front axle torn off
The collision was so severe that the agricultural vehicle was torn in two, the front axle and parts of the bonnet ended up in the adjacent field. According to the St. Gallen cantonal police, the vehicles in the accident sustained total damage of about 20,000 Swiss francs (20,606 euros), but the two drivers escaped slightly. They were taken to hospital for medical treatment with minor injuries.
