Once again, an action by Wutwirt Stefan Lercher creates waves. This time, the pizzeria boss prohibits anyone except Austrians from entering his restaurant.
It is not the first time that Stefan Lercher, the head of Pizzeria Peppino in Millstatt in Carinthia, has made headlines. In the winter, he banned “Arabs, vegans, hippies, ecos” from his restaurant. And that caused advertisements and a stir far beyond the country’s borders.
Now he makes you sit up and notice again. The sign in front of his restaurant reads: “Today only open for Austrians”. Holidaymakers around the Millstätter See do not entirely agree. But Lercher has “a very simple explanation” for this: “I can’t keep up with work at the moment, I swim! So one day there was only pizza for the locals.”
He needs to find a long-term solution. “I literally stormed out, can’t serve everyone, some guests always get turned away!”
