An 81-year-old from Stadl-Paura (Upper Austria) drove from Great Britain to Austria. At least that’s what the elderly driver claimed when the police in Pichl near Wels stopped him as a wrong-way driver.
A police patrol left the motorway at 2.05 am on Saturday at the exit of the A8 in Pichl near Wels. The officials met the 81-year-old from the Wels-Land district with his car as a wrong-way driver. They were able to stop the man in front of the A8, which was already intensively used by trucks at that time.
The driver seemed very tired. He stated that he had driven to Austria from Great Britain and an alcohol test showed a blood alcohol level of 0.0. The driver’s license has been taken from the senior, it is reported.
