Because its parachute suddenly collapsed in the air, a Pinzgauer crashed in Rauris (Salzburg) on Monday. He hit the carport next to a house, injuring his head and hips.
The 31-year-old started his paraglider on the Schmittenhöhe in Zell am See and flew to Rauris via Krimml. Suddenly the parachute collapsed and began to spin in the air. The pilot pulled the emergency parachute, but hit the carport of a family home in Rauris and then landed on the tarmac in front.
The Pinzgauer injured his head and left hip. He reacted after the impact. The severity of the injuries caused by the crash is currently under investigation at the Cardinal Schwarzenberg Clinic. The injured person received first aid at the scene of the accident and was flown to Schwarzach by rescue helicopter.
A similar incident happened in March on the Gaisberg in the city of Salzburg. At that time, a 55-year-old Bayr fell into the woods because his parachute suddenly collapsed.
