Date:

He was able to successfully hide from the Czech judiciary for more than three years – now the requirement for a Covid mask was especially fatal for a wanted murderer in Innsbruck.

Stupid: Since late 2018, Mária K. had successfully gone underground and hidden from law enforcement. After beating a taxi driver to death in his hometown of Pilsen, the convict was sentenced to ten years in prison. But instead of being imprisoned, the now 37-year-old fled.

Detectives suspected that the suspect would be traveling through Austria and Germany with false papers, but never got hold of him. Recently, however, Inspector “Coincidence” made his demise: Mária K. wanted to get on the train at Innsbruck Central Station – because he was not wearing an FFP-2 mask on the platform, he became the target of the police.

The officials then recognized the identity card he had drawn as a forgery and exposed the Czech himself as an internationally wanted criminal. After a few days of “guest house” in a red-white-red cell, the 37-year-old was handed over to the Czech authorities at the border crossing in Drasenhofen (Lower Austria).
