Tonight: Celestial Spectacle “Blue Moon”

Extremely rare, but all the more impressive: the “Blue Moon”. The astronomical spectacle begins on Wednesday evening around 8 p.m.: the super moon appears. It shines up to 30 percent brighter and is 14 percent larger. And it promises hot nights: The super full moon promises a hot night: The full moon is said to have a great effect on libido.

In addition, the largest full moon of the year is believed to dispel negative energies. In fact, it is closer to Earth than usual: about 30,000 kilometers. Today also appears the ‘Blue Moon’, a rare spectacle that only occurs once every two years.

Visible to the naked eye
You can see him almost everywhere in Austria. The peak, i.e. when the moon is really full, takes place around 3.30 am – by that time the sky over almost all of Austria has cleared. The later in the evening, the better the view.
