In recent days, the quality of the meat at the kebab stalls has fallen into disrepute. The death of a 63-year-old from Carinthia in particular caused a stir. The pensioner died of salmonella poisoning after eating a kebab. Since then it has been criticized, a raid took place in Vienna under the motto “with sharp”. krone.tv asked how much interest there was in more transparency in the procurement of ingredients for kebab meat.
“Of course I would be interested in what I eat,” says a young woman in Vienna. Many agree: in the supermarket people also buy local products, so it is good to know where the meat comes from at the kebab stand.
“Here in Austria everything is covered up anyway,” says another gentleman who was approached. “The döner kebab meat from Poland was spoiled and we are still buying it!” he says indignantly. And what does the kebab seller say? “It hasn’t changed at our stand. People now eat even more kebab than before.”
