The train is the safest means of transport in Austria. Yet every year many people have accidents on the railways due to ignorance and carelessness. You can read here which rules must be observed on railway systems in order to prevent dangerous situations from arising in the first place!
Train stations are not a playground; here too there are rules that must be followed. The yellow/white safety line marks the area where you can move on the platform. If you stand too close to the rails, you may be pushed onto the rails by the crowd.
Even if you listen to music on the platform, make calls, write messages on your mobile phone or even illegally skateboard, you will be distracted and endanger yourself and possibly others. Therefore, scooters, skateboards, bicycles and other sports equipment have a break at the station. They must not be used!
Safety tips for the platform
- Always wait behind the security line!
- Only when the train has come to a stop and is ready to board and disembark may you cross the safety line!
- Also note the loudspeaker announcement: “Attention! Train passes by!
- Crowds, strong winds or drafts from passing trains can cause objects to move or fall over!#
- Hold on to your stuff!
- Supervise trolleys, luggage or strollers at all times!
Greetings!
