An earthquake was clearly felt on Tuesday evening, especially in large parts of Tyrol. Several ‘Krone’ readers reported a ‘noticeable shaking’ and ‘real rumbling’ in their apartments. But there should be no damage.
A quiet Tuesday evening in Tyrol was suddenly disrupted, especially in the Schwaz region: a number of walls there shook. Geosphere Austria (Federal Institute for Geology, Geophysics, Climatology and Meteorology) confirmed an earthquake with a magnitude of 3.6 on the Richter scale shortly after 8:14 p.m.
The epicenter was located about seven kilometers east of the town of Schwaz at a depth of seven kilometers.
The earthquake was also clearly felt in the Achensee area and even as far away as Innsbruck. However, no damage to buildings is known.
