An AUA plane scheduled to fly to Chicago on Saturday had to abort its flight due to a medical incident on board. The Boeing 777 made an emergency landing in Shannon, Ireland, the aviation magazine ‘Austrian Wings’ reported, citing the AUA.
To reduce weight, the crew dumped fuel over the Atlantic Ocean before landing, Austrian Wings said. There were no further details on the cause of the flight disruption, citing AUA data protection reasons.
Boeing returns to Vienna on Saturday
According to Irish sources, there were 307 passengers and 14 crew members on board the Boeing 777. As was also learned from Ireland, the Boeing 777 would return to Vienna on Saturday. The return flight OS 066 from Chicago to Vienna has already been cancelled.
