Life-threatening attacks on the highway near Turin: a madman “pelted” vehicles with stones – three of the “projectiles” hit the windshields. After the perpetrator also targeted the alerted police, the Austrian fled.
Crime scene on the highway, eight o’clock in the morning between Orbassano and Candiolo in the middle of the commute: “Armed” with stones, an initially unknown “sniper” had barricaded himself in a parallel street – to end up “shooting” the vehicles passing by at a speed of 130 km/h. With shocking accuracy.
The rocks, some as large as a fist, hit the windshields of a total of two cars and a truck. Miraculously, all three drivers were unharmed. Despite the violent clashes, they were able to keep their vehicles under control and slowly drive onto the hard shoulder without causing any accidents.
The police are also in the crosshairs
The crazed stone thrower even held his position until the alerted traffic police patrol arrived on the scene – eventually aiming and ‘shooting’ at them as well. Here too, the perpetrator has shown accuracy. However, he then fled on foot over unpaved roads.
A major manhunt was immediately launched. However, so far without success. In any case, based on the investigation and some witness statements, the identity of the stone thrower was quickly clarified: it was said to be a 43-year-old Austrian. The homeless person is well-known in the area – and knows the area and possible hiding places like the back of his hand.
