For the second time this week, many residents of Vienna’s Donaustadt district had to go without electricity. Tuesday morning there was another outage. Hundreds of households were affected.
The area around Süßenbrunner and Breitenleer Straße in Hirschstetten was hit. According to Wiener Netze, the outage lasted from about 8:30 am to 10:15 am. It has now been resolved, it was said when asked. A spokeswoman said about the causes of the malfunction that it was a technical defect, a cable was hit on a construction site during work.
As early as Monday, about 2,000 households in the Hirschstetten region were temporarily without power. The affected areas were Quadenstraße, Am Heidjöchl, Portheimgasse, Hasibederstraße, Bahnfeldweg, Hausfeldstraße, Pfalzgasse, Benndorfgasse, Mayredergasse and Contiweg. In this case, too, the malfunction was resolved after approximately two hours, partly due to an incident at a construction site as the cause of the malfunction. A mobile transformer substation was damaged.
Incidents “independent of each other”
As the spokeswoman for Wiener Netze emphasized, there was no connection between the two incidents. They appeared independently of each other.
