“OutHorse Your E-Mail”: Iceland lets horses type

Iceland is now saying no to working with emails while on vacation, launching what it says is “the world’s first stable outhoring representation service”. So that travelers can rest and enjoy an undisturbed stay, horses let their hooves speak and press the keys.

A recent survey of 1,000 German and American workers conducted by Visit Iceland, the island’s official tourist board, found that two-fifths (41 percent) of respondents checked their business email one to four times a day while on vacation, while at least one in ten (14 percent) checks their inbox five to six times a day.

To encourage employees to switch off completely and experience the country’s breathtaking surroundings without distraction, the tourism experts are launching the “Outhoring Service” as part of a marketing campaign that is as ingenious as it is comical. Iceland is also known for its original tourism campaigns. It made international headlines last November when a certain “Zack Mossbergsson” promoted the Icelandverse in a nod to Mark Zuckerberg’s Metaverse.
