Appreciation lacking: former hotspot school could become a role model for Vienna

International experts spoke during the first Vienna Education Festival. Your ideas can also work in Vienna. The staff shortage in Vienna’s compulsory schools has been evident for years. While other states are taking measures and trying to make the teaching profession in their state as attractive as possible, there are currently no incentives in Vienna. That should change. There is now more money for that.

The Englishman Max Haimendorf was one of the speakers at the 1st Vienna Education Festival on the packed Erste Bank Campus. A 28-year-old career changer, he became principal of the King Solomon Academy comprehensive school in London. In just five years he transformed the former Focal Point school into one of the best schools in England.
