In recent months, conservationists, regional politicians and also holidaymakers from Austria (as reported) have taken action against the planned steel factories on the Upper Adriatic Sea between Lignano and Grado. And the resistance seems to have had an effect. The client, the Ukrainian oligarch Rinat Akhmetov, is now said to have looked for another location for his so-called ‘green’ work.

However, it is doubtful whether the Ukrainian oligarch can expect less resistance from conservationists here. But apparently the Italian government does not want to give up the oligarchs’ billions.
