Once again an alcoholic driver caused a serious traffic accident in Styria. This time on Saturday evening a heavily drunk 48-year-old crashed into a bus on the B 320 near Lengdorf.
Around 10:10 p.m., the 48-year-old from the Liezen district drove his car on Ennstal Straße from Stainach towards Gröbming. He should never have gotten behind the wheel because he had drunk far too much alcohol beforehand. It finally happened on the Lengdorf ring road.
Bus driver had no chance
He drove his car to the left side of the road, where a bus was also driving that was replacing the rails. The bus driver (61) had no chance to avoid the vehicle and the vehicles collided.
Accident caused four injuries
The impact caused the bus to leave the road and land in a meadow. Three passengers were slightly injured as a result of the incident and had to be treated by the rescue team, the remaining seven were taken by the fire brigade to the Lengdorf armory and provided with hot drinks and blankets, while Christoph Schlüßlmayr from the fire in the Liezen area brigade association on the height.
The drunk man who caused the accident got even worse: he was trapped and had to be freed by the Florianis using hydraulic rescue equipment. He was then flown to hospital by the rescue helicopter C 14 with serious injuries.
