First the 51-year-old father hit him with a sledgehammer in a shop in Braunau (Upper Austria), then the shop owner (32) hit him from behind with his car. And finally, the rioter’s son joined the heated argument.
Incredible scenes took place in Braunau on Friday afternoon. And all because of a job offer! The wife of a 30 year old Kosovar got this from a local store. But that did not suit the father (51) of the 30-year-old because – according to his later statements – his son, the ‘man of the house’ so to speak, should have been asked first.
So the 51-year-old – also a Kosovar living in Vienna – armed with a sledgehammer went to the store in question, whose owner is a 32-year-old from Braunau.
Breaking tables
Initially, the drunken 51-year-old went on a rampage and randomly broke several tables. Employees managed to force the rioter out of the store.
The owner wasn’t there yet. When the 32-year-old, who had now been notified, arrived in his car, the situation completely escalated: he hit the 51-year-old from behind. In the meantime, the son of the rebellious father had also joined in and hit the entrepreneur again.
Difficult to calm down
Even when the police arrived, the argument continued. The 32-year-old had to be restrained several times by the officers because he tried to attack his opponent even in the presence of the police.
Injured and arrested
The result: the 51-year-old father and the 32-year-old owner were injured and both temporarily arrested. The Kosovar confessed and justified his hammer attack with the “disrespectful behavior” of the company owner and the “sullied honor” of his son. His opponent has not announced his attack.
Witnesses to the incident are asked to contact the Braunau am Inn police station on +43 59 133 4200 100.
