Trial in Feldkirch – dispute escalated: man (25) showed moral courage

Date:

A driver in Rankweil (Vorarlberg) witnessed an escalated relationship dispute and ultimately rescued a woman from an emergency situation. The legal aftermath followed on Wednesday at the LG Feldkirch. The woman’s now ex-boyfriend is accused. They reported the 30-year-old Russian shortly after the brave driver was rescued.

It is about an incident in June in Rankweil. The Oberlander was traveling with his partner when they both saw a couple arguing violently on the side of the road. It soon becomes clear that the physically inferior woman is in great distress. Without thinking twice, they intervene in the argument and offer the woman a ride in the car.

The 25-year-old victim did not hesitate for a second and managed to get to safety in the car. However, the angry man is hot on her heels. He hits the vehicle several times with full force and tries to rip open the car door. After he fails to do so, he chases her in his car.

He hits the bumper several times and eventually even tries to force the getaway car with its three occupants off the road. Fortunately in vain. And so the two ‘rescuers on four wheels’ manage to bring the 25-year-old home safely.

The court believes the statements of the witnesses
During Wednesday’s trial, the suspect denied his malicious intentions. “I only followed them because I wanted to apologize to the two witnesses for my behavior.” For public prosecutor Markus Fußenegger, this is purely a protective claim.

Ultimately, the court believes the witnesses’ statements. Judge Lisa Pfeifer finds the previously innocent man guilty of coercion and material damage and imposes a partial fine of 720 euros. He must pay half of it, the rest is suspended.
