A 39-year-old ambushed his ex-girlfriend (39) in front of her apartment in the Viennese Liesing district on Friday evening and attacked her several times from behind with a knife. The woman was seriously injured and the attacker was arrested by WEGA a short time later.
The 39-year-old suffered multiple cuts and stab wounds to her back and shoulder. A passerby who happened to be passing by alerted the police, after which the attacker let go of his ex-girlfriend and fled.
Bloody knife found at crime scene
Officials from WEGA’s special unit arrested the man near the crime scene at the entrance to the South-East Bypass. The woman received emergency medical care from the Vienna Professional Rescue Service and was taken to a hospital. Her life is not in danger. The bloody knife was still at the crime scene and was seized.
The Kosovar suspect refused to testify. The Vienna State Criminal Investigation Department has taken over the investigation into attempted murder.
