Following the arrest of a 51-year-old, police have made no progress in their search for a motive for the murder of Völs’ former deputy mayor, Walter Kathrein. Meanwhile, current mayor Peter Lobenwein sees a possible connection with the alleged perpetrator’s apparent psychological problems and Kathrein’s willingness to help.
As investigators have now announced, the person arrested on Wednesday from the deceased’s area was a 51-year-old Austrian and was urgently suspected of the crime. According to police, the victim was found to have “external effects of violence” and an autopsy will be conducted on Thursday morning to determine the exact cause of death. The motive and the relationship between the victim and the suspected perpetrator are still unclear. But the mayor of Völs, Peter Lobenstein, has a suspicion about this.
